Amy Caulkins

Dr. Caulkins was born in Iowa, but moved with her family to Nashville when she was eight years old. Amy attended Metro-Nashville Public Schools: Burton School (K-4), Waverly Belmont (5-6), Washington (7), JT Moore (8-9) and Hillsboro High (10-12). After graduation from high school, Amy attended the University of Florida on a swimming scholarship and earned her bachelor’s degree in Journalism with a minor in Art.

After retiring from swimming at 28 years of age, Amy returned to Nashville to attend Trevecca Nazarene University’s teacher education program where she earned her Physical Education teaching certification. She has since earned her master’s degree in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation and her doctorate in Educational Administration from Tennessee State University.

All through her teaching career, Amy has also coached swimming. Currently, she is coaching with two teams-Excel Aquatics and Seven Hills. She also bought a little land in Williamson County where she (with her dad and brother!) built a small farm house and is currently converting her farm land into wildlife habitat for native Tennessee species-which makes for some great viewing from her windows.

Amy has worked with tens of thousands of kids throughout her 30+ year teaching/coaching career. As a family of one, she greatly appreciates the opportunity to work with all of your children and cannot imagine a day without the love, enthusiasm, and honesty she gets from your kids!
