Parents

Dear Parents and Friends:

Welcome to Julia Green Elementary School, an International Baccalaureate World School! This promises to be a very exciting and successful year with many new faces at Julia Green. The Julia Green Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is committed to bringing parents, teachers, and students together in an effort to strengthen our programs and to enrich our children’s educational experience. Your child is beginning a great adventure at a wonderful and supportive school. I welcome each and every one of you to the “Julia Green Family.”

The PTO has many opportunities for you to get involved and to help support our organization. Our PTO meets on the first Tuesday of every month, and I encourage you to check our website for up-to-date event and meeting times. Through your involvement, our PTO will continue to provide our students with invaluable resources, to help teachers in the classroom, and to enrich the lives of all of our families.

One way you can help is by volunteering at the school and becoming actively engaged in your child’s learning experience. This can be done in a number of ways. For example, you can come into your child’s classroom as a helper; you can sign up for one of our various fund raising and event committees; you can help in the library; or, you can tutor a child. You can also be involved from your home or office. We have many opportunities to help out throughout the year so please do not hesitate to get involved. The time and talent you offer by volunteering will make a difference in the life of our school and in the life of your child.

The PTO also sponsors three fund raisers: Invest In Your Child, Read-A-Thon, and the Spring Party. Through these fund raisers, we are able to fund our annual budget, which helps sponsor student activities, literacy programs, and family fun nights; provide classroom supplies; support school-wide technological and facility needs; and much more. There will be many opportunities throughout the year to become more acquainted with our fund raisers and how you may offer your support.

Together we can work toward making every child’s potential a reality. Children succeed when families, schools, and communities work together.

If you need any assistance throughout the year, feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. It is my pleasure to serve as your PTO President this year. I look forward to working with you.

Sincerely,
Mary Pierce - (markandmarypierce@comcast.net
